This bag was very organic for me. It reminds me of the earth and forest. The crystals all around the bag are light pink and green. The strap is made with quartz crystal and rose quartz and small pieces of shell. The bag's color is different hues of green with a light mauve color in the bead mixture. Wearing it is very calming and I love to put little treasures and keep sakes in my amulet bags.

Samhain is an ancient Celtic Celebration on October 31st which believes in honoring their dead friends, relatives and ancestors at midnight. They believed the veil between the world of the living and dead was at its thinnest. I loved this doll because of the bead work especially the amber and coral on the doll. The Scary Face was Made by Linsart on Etsy. Autumn and Halloween are one of my favorite times of year. At midnight on Halloween I light a candle on a little altar I have set up with all my friends, loved ones and relatives who have passed. I say prayers and sometimes offer food. It brings me peace and I know they are always close by. Louisa is one of the first dolls I ever sewed. The fabric is heavy upholstery which gives a great weight to this little doll. I love the antique button I used in the center and the antique beads with the twine around her waist. Sewing heads are not my forte but there are always adventures in any creative endeavor. Queen of Hearts was a huge undertaking. When I made the bag my manic depression was terrible. I was going through a severe depressive phase. So...I work, create and engage is all beauty. The bag took me about six weeks to complete. The fringe was the most difficult because I hadn't figured a way to not have the thread become entangled with the already completed fringe. I still have great difficulty with fringe. It's difficult to see on this bag but the fringe is loaded with cloisonne round beads. Each fringe has a little bell on the end and the entire bag is very heavy. I made the strap long so it can be worn on the shoulder and a credit card or make up and drivers license will fit in the bag easily. I wish I had made a thicker strap to balance the bag. The design is mine and I loved doing the entire piece. It feels smooth and silky to the touch. As with any art form all senses including our sixth sense are constantly engaged. What a phenomenal journey. I really love the way this bag feels. The beads are larger and it has a plush texture. The plastic leaves on the bottom add to the fall like colors and gives the bag a bit of a lighter look. I have yellow jade beads on the latch and bells, crystal, jade and glass beads as an embellishment. I created the design. Beading teaches so much in patience, color design and wonderful As I was working on Gypsy I couldn't decide whether I wanted to bead her garment or head dress. I decided to take some old lace that my girl friend had given me and bead across the bottom of the lace. I left the fabric as is to bring out the coloring in the face. I was feeling very down when I made this doll, she helped me feel better more light hearted and optimistic. Incredible face made by Chris Flynn My Irish Gypsy on Etsy. |
